Definition: Opportunities to promote potential for ethnic minorities within the world of work

Theme B partnerships are about the employment opportunities of ethnic minorities and have covered a wide range of employability, job-creation and diversity work. Partnership topics have ranged from positive action programmes and diversity help for employers to tackling barriers faced by refugee and migrant communities. Products include marketing and information websites in the creative industries, toolkits on the benefits of diversity, information about a national forum for race opportunity, a database of doctors prepared to act as mentors, policy and practice reports on employment and diversity, and diversity learning materials and qualifications.

B-EQUAL - Bradford Equality Employment Project Aim The aim of the B-Equal DP was to identify and promote innovative ways of combating and eliminating discrimination and inequality in the labour market, and to promote a workforce that reflected the diversity of the district. CEMESME - Contribution of Ethnic Minority Employees to UK Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Background The CEMESME project is focused on employment, enterprise and the corporate culture of British small and medium sized firms regarding diversity in the workplace.

CREATE - Co-operating for Racially Equal Access to Training and Employment - Round 1 led by Aim The aim of this project is to improve the employability of people from ethnic minorities by offering Positive Action Training (PAT) as a means to gain work or improve work prospects.

CREATE Diversity in Employment - Round 2 led by Background CREATE has been developing activities for employers, intermediaries and beneficiaries to tackle inequality and discrimination in the labour market for ethnic minorities. Projects (6), products (7)

Curiad Calon Cymru Background The Curiad Calon Cymru [CCC} Partnership came about when AWEMA mooted two  Focus Group Workshops to invite 40 organisations from the academic, voluntary and public sectors to attend. Projects (6), products (3)

EMPOWER - Ethnic Minorities Participating On Wider Economic Responsibilities Aim The main aim of the EMPOWER DP was to raise awareness of the employment opportunities available within the heritage and environment sector to Black and Minority Ethnic communities in Scotland. Projects (6)

KCBMEB - Knowledge Centre on Black and Minority Ethnic Businesses Aim The aim of the Knowledge Centre on Black and Minority Ethnic Businesses (KCBMEB) DP was to develop new models and tools for making business support more accessible to ethnic businesses.

LEADER - Linking EQUAL Access for the Disadvantaged and Excluded Refugees Aim The aim of the LEADER DP was to improve the employment prospects of unemployed refugees in the UK through the provision of training, advice and guidance, mentoring support and work experience.

OPEn HoUSE - Opportunities for the Procurement of Employment iN HOusing for the Underrepresented through Support and Empowerment Background The activities undertaken by OPEN HOUSE are a response to an identified need. Projects (1), products (3)

PRESTO - The Partnership for Refugee Employment through Support, Training and On-Line Learning Background The PRESTO DP aims to test and disseminate innovative approaches to training and employment packages to support and improve the employment prospects of refugee professionals specifically in the Health, Education and Engineering sectors. The Last Mile: Flex FX Productions Background  Flex FX is a unique company based in East London where inner city roots are complemented by global influences and vision. Projects (2), products (5)

The Last Mile: WAC Performing Arts and Media College Background  WAC Performing Arts and Media College began thirty years ago as Weekend Arts College offering training in the arts for young people from low income families. Projects (3)

WBGB - Working Broadband GB Aim The aim of the Working Broadband GB DP was to assist people from diverse communities to enter and progress in the Creative and Technology sectors, using current and future developments in broadband to reduce unemployment and providing economic advancements for people from BME communities to improve employment prospects. Accessing management opportunities gateway (AMOG) – City of Bradford Metropolitan District CouncilBradford Council successfully developed an initiative to provide work placement opportunities for graduates to gain relevant management experiences.

An analysis of the employment experiences of Sikh women in West Yorkshire – Bradford Education and & Cultural Association of Sihks (BECAS)BECAS is a community-based organisation that was able to analyse the educational attainments and skill levels of targeted women from Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
