Background
Equal programmes have identified that disabled people start with a major disadvantage in employment: negative attitudes in society and in themselves. A number of Equal Development Partnerships working in different Equal themes have come together in order to share their learnings with each other in this field through an informal Disability Network. This is a chance for DPs to network and learn from each other through study visits and meetings.
Aim
The aim is to establish a network of Development Partnerships working in the disability field, to enable everyone involved to disseminate their key learnings and materials more widely and to enable good practice to reach the mainstream more quickly.
Objectives
To develop a Disability Network with the participation of all interested Equal Development Partnerships involved in the disability field
To share good practice developed during Equal
To disseminate materials and key policy recommendations more widely through joint mainstreaming
Target groups
Membership of the Disability Network is open to development partnerships who are working to remove barriers that prevent disabled people from entering and remaining in the workforce. The Network will give partners the opportunity to share the range of materials they have created with each other and the wider disability community.
