Activity information

Description

Get The Balance Right is a work-life mentoring initiative aimed at women (but disadvantaged men are not precluded). The programme has been unlocking the untapped potential of learners through:

  • Individual diagnostic skills and needs assessment
  • Personal development action planning incorporating work-life balance and development goals
  • Work-life balance mentoring in the workplace
  • ICT skills coaching in the workplace
  • Bite-sized skills development workshops establishing a network of participants and providing the opportunity to achieve the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Introductory Certificate

Get The Balance Right is designed to empower women to take advantage of opportunities in the workplace and manage the impact of this upon their personal life. It is based upon a similar programme 'Balance', developed and piloted in Birmingham by Harris Associates through Birmingham and Solihull LSC (ESF Co-financing) in 2002- 2003.

The project aims include:

  • To take positive action to empower women (and disadvantaged individuals) to improve their position in the labour market through addressing work-life balance issues which contribute to discrimination within the workplace.
  • to extend provision within the region and upgrade the skills of women or disadvantaged individuals (irrespective of gender) to enable career progression, support entry into non-traditional roles and equip beneficiaries with the skills, confidence and attributes to progress within the workplace.
  • To support skills development through an individual, needs-driven, flexible learning and mentoring solution delivered in the workplace to accredit existing and new skills through a recognised management qualification.
