Family Link Workers Training, Black Country Communities in the Lead

Activity information

Description

The aim of this programme is to train local community members to support health and social care professionals and to help community members gain appropriate skills and qualifications to support entry into work.

Although there is no guarantee of a job at the end of the programme, the project has been developing progression pathways into education, employment and voluntary work for students needing more work experience or training before they can get a job.

Open College Network Courses at Levels 1 and 2 have been offered, with placements as an integral part of the course. The programme has been providing an opportunity for local people, particularly those suffering from disadvantage, to enter employment or to progress their careers within the health sector.

The project allows for exploring the feasibility of establishing a social enterprise to supply child or family link workers to the health and social care sector.
