Adjust the Balance in Worcestershire, Adjust the Balance

Description

Worcestershire County Council’s project has been very successful and has already engaged with over 150 employers across the county as the project continues. The project aims to raise awareness of worklife balance issues with employers and through a series of free workshops is designed to help employers improve their recruitment and retention of staff; to deal with stress in the workplace; to manage their workforces flexibly and to achieve and sustain work-life balance in their workplaces. The project to date has delivered:

  • Four Managing Workplace Stress seminars to over 60 employers
  • three series of a programme of four work-life balance workshops to over 40 employers to cover Business Benefits to Work-Life Balance Recruitment, Selection & Retention, Managing a Flexible Workforce and Achieving and Sustaining Work-life Balance.

Jo Randall, the project manager, has been facilitating an Employer Forum for employers across Worcestershire to share best practice in human resources management and work-life balance. The Forum meets quarterly with guest speakers presenting on topical issues with opportunity for members to exchange ideas and is followed by a networking lunch.

  • 8th March 2007, Worcester 9.30am- 4.00pm – How to Manage a 21st Century Workforce using NLP
  • 24th April 2007, Bishop’s Wood Environmental Centre, Stourport, 10.00am – 1.00pm – How Ethical is Your Business?
  • May (tbc) – Bishop’s Wood Environmental Centre, 9.30am- 4.00pm – Implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
  • 10th July Worcester 10.00am- 1.00pm – Celebration of work-life balance
