CILP - Cornwall Inclusive Learning Partnership
The Inclusion Power project has been established to exploit the common themes in three domestic projects addressing economic and social exclusion:
- The Cornwall Inclusive Learning partnership in the UK
- På Vej til Arbejde, On the Way to Jobs (PAV), in Denmark
- WordPower in Sweden
Each of these projects has extensive experience, both of working with their disadvantaged target groups to tackle economic and social exclusion and of promoting labour market integration.
The three Inclusion Power partners identified a common need to address the issues, problems and barriers faced by many people today, including low skill levels such as inadequate literacy and numeracy skills, negative previous experiences of learning, poor self esteem, low incomes, and alienation. The project sought to bring the partners' valuable body of experience in economic and social exclusion issues together so that common lessons could be learned through related work. All partners were concerned with:
- The underlying problem of social exclusion faced by marginalised target groups with low levels of skills and who face barriers to employment
- The examination of new ways of engaging individuals within excluded groups into lifelong learning.
- The development of learning materials and progression pathways to self efficiency and employment.
- The use of innovative ICT applications/products in addressing the needs of the target groups.
