The ECO (Employability and Childcare Opportunities) partnership comprised BetterCUP and transnational partners in Italy, Austria and the Netherlands who shared their learning regarding good practice and also lobbied for social change. The Austrian and Italian partners were based in rural areas so had less in common with Bettercup than the Dutch, who were based in an industrial area.

The projects were organised around 2 main common themes:

• Development of Childcare Services (including standards, good practice, training, comparison of models, links between agencies and employment services)
  
  
• Integration/Reintegration into the labour (including childcare services, flexible job markets, re-organisation of job centres public and private, good practice and quality standards, learning locations assessment)

All partners addressed race and cultural diversity and recruitment of black and ethnic minorities as an integral part of comparing approaches. Other important objectives were:

• Development of services aiming at integration of immigrant populations (ethnic minorities, exploring possibilities for vocational training in mother tongue, study on good practice and legislation in other countries)
  
  
• Integration of different employment services aiming (re-organisation of job centres, private-public link, study on good practice and quality standards)
  
  Referring to all these objectives, the actions will be exchanges of good practice, studies on different models and strategies of each country, mainstreaming and dissemination of the results.
