Description
Crossroads Caring for Carers is the leading national voluntary organisation providing practical help for carers, through a network of local schemes employing Carer Support Workers, who replace the carer in the home, usually for a few hours on a regular basis. Within the ACE Partnership, Crossroads is trialling alternative models of practical help to enable carers to be available for a full length working day: 1. Milton Keynes Scheme is extending its present After School Club for profoundly disabled children to offer ‘wrap around care’ and school holiday assistance for parent carers. 2. Epping Forest, Harlow and Isle of Wight Schemes are inviting working carers to register for emergency support should their regular arrangements break down.
