Gender equality

Definition: Promoting gender equality in the work place, reducing gender gaps and supporting job desegregation

Theme H partnerships are concerned with reducing gender inequalities. The work has included the development of pay audit tools, producing training and support materials for careers advisers, providing women with access to science, engineering, ICT, transport and other sectors, and challenging both gender and ethnic stereotyping. Products include research on the employment of women in ICT, an e-learning website challenging stereotyping, live drama and drama DVD, research materials and role models on DVD.

Long term work: Communities that Care  The purpose of Communities that Care’s work in CWLWM is to adapt what CtC do to fit into the way the Communities First programme works in Wales.

Primavera The transnational partnership has been working on exchange of experience of childcare sector development - resulting in a best practice handbook information on different systems of childcare financing - resulting in a report exchanging experience and support methodologies for third sector business start-ups and childcare business start-ups-resulting in a collection of case studies experience and practice of minority language childcare provision - resulting in a comparative report shared events for dissemination and mainstreaming .

Regional Hubs North West, South East and Yorkshire & Humber The Regional Hubs deliver the objectives of the JIVE project, exploring the barriers preventing women from progressing in SET from school through to employment in industry or academia, and work with organisations to break down these barriers.

Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association The purpose of Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association’s work in CWLWM is to examine the difficulties small Welsh Childcare Charities have with gaining support from the corporate sector.

Training and Career Routes The DP has been delivering a programme of training courses which include tasters and accredited non gender traditional training.

Training for Playworkers: Playwork Partnerships The purpose of Playwork Partnerships’ work in CWLWM is to extend the range of training opportunities for playworkers in Wales, and to increase confidence and skills in facilitating children’s outdoor play.

Training ProgrammesThe DP developed training programmes to demonstrate the benefits of recruiting and developing a diverse workforce.

Training resources for employersThe JIVE partnership developed a wide range of products aimed at assessing and giving advice to employers on gender equality. Activities in this field included the creation of a self-assessment tool for employers, several training events and some good practice guides.
