Gender equality

Definition: Promoting gender equality in the work place, reducing gender gaps and supporting job desegregation

Theme H partnerships are concerned with reducing gender inequalities. The work has included the development of pay audit tools, producing training and support materials for careers advisers, providing women with access to science, engineering, ICT, transport and other sectors, and challenging both gender and ethnic stereotyping. Products include research on the employment of women in ICT, an e-learning website challenging stereotyping, live drama and drama DVD, research materials and role models on DVD.

Dissemination & Mainstreaming The project is undertaking a wide range of activities to spell out the learning and impact of activities carried out during the lifetime of JIVE.

Empowerment ToolkitThe toolkit has been designed to provide a totally integrated solution that can be used interactively by people at all levels in the organisation and at each stage of their development.

Equality by Degree Partners in this project are the Belgian Centre for Gender Diversity at the University of Leuven, University of Maastricht (the Netherlands), University of Valencia (Spain) and JIVE.

Evaluation Reports Reports relating to the evaluation of the Partnership play a key role in evidencing the validity of activities from Action 2 .

Family Friendly Colleges The project aimed to: pilot family friendly interventions at a College of Further Education with a view to mainstreaming throughout the Scottish Higher and Further Education sectors.

Gender@Work Science, Engineering and Technology sectors are highly segregated within the three partners in Gender@Work: Latvia, Tenerife and Great Britain.

Gender@Work This Transnational Partnership consists of 4 DPs which have common interests in engendering public sector labour market and regeneration policies as well as the strategies of public and private sector organisations.

Innovation AwardsThe Equalitec project aims to encourage women to apply their innovative and inventive capabilities in the ITEC and related areas, and to celebrate their contributions by creating a new ITEC Innovation Award.

JIVE in ActionJIVE has examples of training undertaken with employers and case studies of how their approach has made a difference to the process of change within the workforce.

JIVE MCSE ProjectThis project focuses on women ICT technicians undertaking a training programme leading to Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer accreditation.

JIVE NASEC ProjectThis project focuses on the recruitment and progress of young women joining a National Apprenticeship Scheme in Engineering Construction (NASEC) with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), a JIVE partner.

JIVE Partnership Video Interviews JIVE has been addressing the skills shortage in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) and taking steps to ensure that skilled women are able to contribute fully in the SET careers for which they were trained.

JIVE Training Over a three year period JIVE has delivered training to over 1000 learning providers in further and higher education, work based learning providers, 500+ Careers & Connections staff and employees from industry and sector skills councils.

Job-Based Training The project focuses on the changing role of  Information Technology, Electronics and Communications in driving business competitiveness is growing and with it demand for ITEC skills and new employment opportunities for women, and in particular women returning to work after a career break.

Legal Toolkit: University of Gloucestershire The University has been producing a handbook ‘Getting it Right Legally’ (GIRL)  The handbook is easy to read and use, and is freely available throughout Wales in Welsh and in English.

Level 2 and level 3 training in Playwork: Play Wales The purpose of Play Wales’ work in CWLWM is to develop, pilot and mainstream an innovative learning and training experience.
